When I decided to FINALLY replace our 27-year-old linoleum kitchen floor with porcelain tile, I started reviewing newspaper advertisements and angieslist.com to choose the best option for the job. Based on my research, I chose to work with Roland Lejeune at the Floors for Living location at 3709 Highway 6 South, Sugar Land, TX 77478. He went out of his way to make sure the project would be finished in the short time I had specified (which it was, with plenty of time to spare). As Roland had suggested, I had purchased a large roll (9' x 400') of Painter's Plastic and a roll of ScotchBlue Painter's tape for the installers to cover our kitchen cabinets and appliances, as well as the doors and wall openings, to prevent the fine dust generated by the tearing of the old linoleum from spreading all over our kitchen and throughout our house. The experienced installer advised that Roland was incorrect and there would be very little dust so there was no need to cover anything so he didn't. I also mentioned that the project took 3-4 days, and he told me they would be finished in 1.5-2 days. I could see that there was indeed a layer of fine white dust everywhere and shards of linoleum and debris on our kitchen cabinets, appliances and carpeting at both entrances to our kitchen. When they left, they said they would be back early the next morning and finish the project by noon. The next day, as promised, the workers arrived early in the morning, except there was only one guy from the day before (the one who didn't speak English) and 3 other men who didn't speak English (Roland said that there would always be at least one guy who spoke English). I'm quite upset that they didn't cover our kitchen cabinets and appliances, as well as the doors and wall openings, to prevent the fine dust generated by the ripping out of the old linoleum from spreading all over our kitchen and into our whole house. They also chipped a piece of the left door frame molding near the floor when they removed the doors to our laundry room (a two sided bifold French door arrangement) which only bothers me because they said nothing, leaving me to find out on my own. I also found out about 5 hours after their rushed departure that they had left the outside faucet at the pipe, which wouldn't be a problem except the faucet was leaking. Overall, based on Roland and the kitchen tiling we currently have, I would probably use the services of Floors for Living again.
